Juliana Hupsel is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta. She holds a Master degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and has a wide experience in the psychology field providing counselling to children, teenagers and adults in different settings. From a diverse cultural background, Juliana is sensitive to differences and is able to understand the client’s worldview, using cultural sensitive approaches to suits the client’s needs. In her professional experience, Juliana had worked for several years in hospitals at her home country, dealing with acute stress and providing crisis counselling to individuals dealing with serious illness and their families.
Currently working in a school setting, Mrs. Hupsel has large experience dealing with children and teenagers with different needs, as is able to use a wide variety of different interventions to meet the client’s expectations and to set them up for success. The majority of approaches utilized by Mrs. Hupsel are based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), also utilizing play-based therapy to understand the child’s emotional struggles and to promote the individual’s wellbeing.
Mrs. Hupsel also offers couples, family and group counselling, as she is a greater believe of the ability to change the social dynamic and interpersonal interaction as a means to heal from previous trauma and to strengthen social skills. Counselling can be delivered either in English, Portuguese or Spanish, making it possible to clients to express themselves in their preferred language.
