I have been a registered psychologist since March 2001. As a provisional psychologist (1998-2001), I worked for the Calgary Catholic School District, and once registered, obtained a position with the Calgary Board of Education, which I maintained for five years. I subsequently assumed the role of Manager of Assessment Services at Foothills Academy, a private school dedicated to the educational needs of students with learning disabilities. I resigned in 2010 so that my own children could attend the school. I chose to establish a private practice in October 2010 in order to better meet the needs of my clients. Long waiting lists for assessments, limited resources, and system politics, left many families feeling frustrated and alone in their search for support for their children. As a parent with two grown daughters with special needs, including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, I understand the difficulties families experience as they attempt to navigate the system. As such, I bring both a personal and professional perspective to my work.
Since registration, I have consistently strived to provide a high quality, ethical service. I adhere to the many guidelines and Standards of Practice as set out by the College of Alberta Psychologists, and maintain continued competency in my practice by attending workshops and webinars, listening to podcasts, and reading current research. My foremost guiding principle is Respect for the Dignity of Persons. This is evident in all my interactions with clients and I value their trust as I work with them and/or their children. Similarly, my colleagues, Ms. Paloma Scott and Ms. Jenna Fortinski, who provide treatment services, were selected based also on their high ethical standards and quality of practice.
My work is highly regarded in the community, and feedback about my comprehensive reports is consistently positive. I value diversity, and work with families from many different cultural backgrounds.
I look forward to working with you and/or your family.
